William Chamblee and Weston Hall successfully try and win a case in Dallas County, Texas. Plaintiff alleged that security patrol officer/husband/ father’s death was due to the negligence of an apartment complex. The allegation was that the apartment complex had an ongoing significant amount of crime, including gang activity, and the apartment complex had been sued by the city multiple times for crime on the property. Plaintiff’s counsel alleged that such continuing crime bled over into the surrounding neighborhood ultimately resulting in the Plaintiff, who was a security guard on an adjacent property, being shot. Plaintiff spent a few years as a quadriplegic in a wheelchair before dying. Plaintiff’s counsel asked the Jury for close to $1 Billion in damages. The jury returned a defense verdict of no negligence for our client, the apartment complex. The jury found negligence on various other actors associated with businesses in the neighborhood, as well as on the shooter himself.
