Jeff Ryan and Brenton Buckles Obtain Defense Verdict in Wichita County

Jeff Ryan and Brenton Buckles obtained a defense verdict following a week-long trial in Wichita County.  CR represented an interventional cardiologist who consulted a patient who presented to the ER with lower extremity ischemia. The patient had a bypass graft that had been placed years earlier following an accident.  Plaintiff alleged the interventional cardiologist failed to intervene in a timely manner and, further, that he failed to pursue the appropriate intervention from removing clots.  The patient’s left leg was amputated above the knee shortly after transfer to Dallas for further care.  The plaintiff asked the jury for $9,133,044.80  in damages which included a life care plan of $5,522,544.80.  The treating vascular surgeon and hospital had previously settled although the jury returned a no negligence verdict following the submission of only the interventional cardiologist.
