William Chamblee, Douglas Lewis, and Matt Loving obtained a unanimous defense verdict on behalf of a DFW Anesthesia group, an anesthesiology physician, and a CRNA. During the course of a two week trial in the 17th District Court of Tarrant County, Texas, Jurors heard evidence regarding a Wrongful Death and Healthcare Liability lawsuit. Plaintiffs alleged an anesthesiologist and a CRNA failed to properly secure and manage the patient’s airway, resulting in a fatal perforation of the trachea. At trial, Plaintiffs sought more than $4.3 Million in damages, including economic damages, conscious pain, suffering, and mental anguish.
Mr. Chamblee, lead trial counsel for Defendants, demonstrated through evidence the emergent and serious nature of the procedure in question. The experts in the case testified how each provider, physician, and nurse involved in care and treatment of this patient performed skillfully and appropriately despite unforeseen medical complications. The defense successfully showed the Jury how all Defendants met and exceeded the standard of care, providing the best possible treatment for the patient. After less than two hours of deliberation, the Jury returned a unanimous verdict finding no negligence on the part of any Defendant.
