Following reports that dozens of major hospitals were found to be providing protected patient data to Facebook, the firm’s Weston Hall was interviewed by Part B News on the implications of such a business agreement on healthcare providers. “The benefits that they’d be getting out of any of this data-sharing must be far surpassed by the risks they were taking, opening themselves up to not just a few but potentially thousands of HIPAA violations, the penalties for which can be significant,” he said.
