Peter Anderson and David Walsh Obtain Defense Verdict in Palo Pinto County, Texas – Health Care

Peter Anderson and David Walsh obtained a defense verdict on behalf of an obstetrician in a medical malpractice suit in Palo Pinto County, Texas.  Plaintiffs contended that the obstetrician, over the course of two hospital visits and one office visit over four days, missed diagnosed significant abdominal pain as unrelated to the patient’s pregnancy when it should have been diagnosed as a uterine dehiscence.  Hours after the last visit, the uterus ruptured, resulting in the death of the mother and infant, which was 38 weeks and 4 days of gestation.  Plaintiffs also contended that a variety of other reasons justified earlier delivery of the baby, which would have saved the lives of the mother and baby.  After a six-day trial and five hours of deliberations, the jury returned the verdict that found no negligence on behalf of the obstetrician.
