Bill Chamblee and Weston Hall Obtain a Ruling Granting Client’s Motion for Summary Judgment

Bill Chamblee and Weston Hall recently obtained a ruling from the judge of a District Court in Dallas County granting our clients summary judgment on all of Plaintiff’s causes of action. This case centers around a security guard who was shot and killed while guarding stores at a strip mall in Dallas. We represented an apartment complex that was in the vicinity of the shooting. The shooting did not occur on our client’s property and our client did not hire the security guard that was killed. Following briefing and oral argument, the court agreed our client did not have a duty to prevent the shooting that occurred on someone else’s property. This was an absolutely correct application of well-established case law in Texas and a clear victory for our client in a hard fought case.
