Peter H. Anderson and Kimberly K. Bocell successfully defended a Fort Worth surgeon in a wrongful death case in Tarrant County, Texas. The allegations stemmed from an abdominal surgery performed on the plaintiffs’ mother to place a jejunostomy tube for enteral nutrition. The patient, diagnosed with severe pancreatitis, suffered a small bowel leak, which is a known complication of the procedure. Despite every effort to medically and surgically manage the patient following an acute change in her status, she passed away. At the close of the evidence, the jury returned a unanimous verdict for the doctor in just forty minutes.
