The firm’s Bill Chamblee is among a number of sources quoted in a Dallas Morning News article focusing on the effects of a 20-year-old Texas law limiting the amount of damages in medical malpractice cases. Fueling the debate is the recent passing of former Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson, amid allegations that negligence on the part of caregivers may have contributed to her death at the age of 89.
In the article, Mr. Chamblee notes that while the number of med-mal lawsuits filed statewide has decreased since the law was passed, he hasn’t seen a significant change in the number of such cases he tries. The article also notes that since passage of the law the number of doctors in the state has increased by nearly 90%, while the state’s population has increased about 38%.
