Overview
William (“Bill”) Newman is an appellate lawyer, certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Civil Appellate Law since 1995. Successfully defended in a Texas appellate court an out-of-state trust’s objections to personal jurisdiction, reversing the lower court’s denial of special appearance.
Successfully argued the appeal of a supported medical school’s status as a “state agency” for purposes of the tort claims act.
Represented a large auto insurer on appeal concerning a significant coverage issue affecting thousands of policies and obtained a favorable settlement.
Successfully argued on appeal to reverse a judgment under the Uniform Transfers to Minors act in a case applying Arizona law.
Successfully handled numerous expedited appeals of Chapter 74 expert reports under Texas law.
