Overview

Courtney Barker is a civil litigation attorney at Chamblee Ryan, P.C. in Dallas, Texas, where she represents clients in a variety of complex legal matters. Her litigation practice is bolstered by over a decade of experience in healthcare operations, regulatory compliance, and contract law, offering clients a rare blend of legal acumen and practical industry insight. She is known for her strategic approach to problem-solving and her ability to navigate the nuanced intersections of business, law, and healthcare policy.

Before joining Chamblee Ryan, Courtney served in leadership roles in major Texas healthcare institutions.  In these roles, she led initiatives that significantly reduced accounts receivable while enhancing patient experience and employee engagement. She played a key role in negotiating third-party liability settlements and ensuring compliance with 501(r) compliant non-profit financial assistance programs, demonstrating both legal proficiency and operational leadership in a high-stakes environment. Her tenure further refined her expertise in healthcare administration and legal strategy. She managed multimillion-dollar budgets, led multidisciplinary teams, and negotiated vital contracts. Her leadership helped streamline financial operations and deliver measurable cost savings, while also strengthening relationships between clinical faculty and hospital administration.

Courtney began her legal career in corporate counsel roles, including managing complex healthcare agreements and ensuring regulatory compliance across academic medical center and health system settings. She also provided legal oversight on matters of governance and corporate compliance for over 20 subsidiaries as in-house counsel. Her early legal experience includes appellate and litigation support roles, with a focus on e-discovery, legal research, and drafting for civil and maritime cases.

Drawing on her combined legal and healthcare background, Courtney offers clients a uniquely integrated perspective on litigation and risk management. Her career reflects a commitment to excellence in both legal practice and operational execution, with a proven track record of results in dynamic, regulated environments. She continues to leverage this dual expertise to help clients navigate legal challenges with confidence and clarity.

Courtney is a member of the State Bar of Texas active in the Health Law, Insurance Law, and Litigation Sections.  She is also an active member of the Dallas Bar Association including the Business Litigation, Health Law, and Trial Skills sections.  Courtney is a proud first-generation Texan, born in Austin and raised in Keller.  In her spare time she and her husband enjoy spending time with their school-aged son, particularly watching him play competitive baseball.  The family enjoys watching the Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys, and playing with their two dogs.
